So far their results are coming up a little short of what we have seen on TV. Scientists have been working on a way to teleport an object from one location to another for decades. Regardless, TV audiences have been captivated ever since they saw a character get beamed up for the first time. A few flickering lights and sound effects cost less money than building models and sets to show shuttlecraft or the ship itself landing on a planet. And while not a car, or even a wheeled vehicle, young Kirk is chased (just before driving the priceless Corvette off a cliff and into a quarry) by a police officer on a hovercruiser. Kirk is observed taking his stepfather’s ’65 Corvette Stingray for a joyride.
